Travelling by car

According to the AA, the 52 mile journey from Bognor to Eastbourne should take you around 1 hour, 22 minutes – though given that the route takes you along busy coastal roads on a Bank Holiday Monday, you might want to allow a little longer! The route starts out on the A259 coast road, then follows the A27, by-passing Worthing and Brighton. So…

1. Head for Littlehampton and Wick on the A259.

2. At the Wick roundabout, take the second exit onto the A284 (signposted London, Brighton, Portsmouth.

3. Two miles later, at the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A27 and head towards Brighton.

4. Stay on the A27 for approx 40 miles, following signs for Brighton, then Eastbourne, until you reach Polegate. At the Polegate traffic lights, turn left.

5. Shortly afterwards, at the large roundabout, take the exit signposted ‘Eastbourne, Hastings, Bexhill’ and continue eastwards on the A27.

6. At the next roundabout, take the second exit towards Stone Cross and Westham (A22);

7. At the nest roundabout, take the first exit signposted Stone Cross and Westham.

8. Continue towards Stone Cross village, past Dittons Nursery on your left. Shortly afterwards you will come to a crossroads, with a church on your left, the Red Lion pub on the right, and Stone Cross windmill immediately ahead. Turn right, down the B2104 Friday Street.

9. At the end of Friday Street, turn left at the double mini-roundabout into Hide Hollow (B2191), passing Eastbourne Crematorium on your right.

10. Turn right at the roundabout into Priory Road, and Priory Lane is about 200 yards down the road on the left

Travelling by Public Transport

The nearest rail station is not Eastbourne but Pevensey & Westham from where (according to the Eastbourne Borough website) the ground is a 20 minute walk.

Alternatively, take the train to Eastbourne station, then get a cab (EBFC recommend 720 Cars on 01323-720720) or a Number 11 bus (journey time around 17 minutes).
