Follow the Rocks to ……
Worthing
MON 9TH APRIL 2012, KO 3pm
Worthing’s ‘stadium’ has changed its name so often in recent years that you could be forgiven for thinking they’re permanently on the move. Not so. By the time next April comes around, it could be the A2B Stadium, the Victor Gladwish Ground or the Stannah Stairlifts Arena – but don’t worry, it’s still Woodside Road to you and me. For first-timers and / or satnav users, the full address is Worthing FC, Woodside Road, Worthing, West Sussex BN14 7HQ.
Travelling by car
The 17 mile journey should take about half an hour. From Bognor,
1. Take the A259 through Littlehampton.
2. At the Wick roundabout, take the second exit onto the A284 (Signposted London, Brighton and Portsmouth)
3. Approx 1.5 miles later, at another roundabout, take the second exit onto the A27 (signposted Brighton, Worthing)
4. Approx 5.5 miles later, at another roundabout, take the third exit onto the A2031(Signposted West Worthing and West Durrington.
5. After ¾ mile, continue through traffic lights on A2031.
6. Approx half a mile later, turn left into Twitten Way and …. wait for it
• Left again into Haynes Road,
• Another left onto Haynes Way,
• Right onto St Thomas’s Way
• Left onto Bulkington Avenue and, finally,
• Right onto Woodside Road
Parking: a quote from the Worthing website:
“Being a residential area, parking is tight. On match days, driving / parking down Woodside Road is not advisable. Try the roads situated around the ground: Bulkington Avenue, Nutbourne Road, Shermanbury Road, Gaisford Road, Woodmancote Road and possibly Henty Road though this will get busy.”
Travelling by Public Transport
If you’re travelling by train, there is the usual mix of direct services (journey time 31 minutes) and indirect services (change at Barnham, journey time between 25 and 33 minutes).
The ground is about half a mile from Worthing (BR) Central station so, when you come out of the station, take an immediate right and walk parallel to the train-line down Cross Street. About 100 metres down the road, you will see a railway crossing. Turn right here into South Farm Road. Take the next left down Pavilion Road and walk along here for about 400 metres. (You should be able to see the floodlights.) You will see Woodside Road on the right and the ground is about another 200 metres on the left.
