Follow the Rocks to ……

Commiserations to anyone who was looking-forward to visiting the Withdean; to no-one’s great surprise, Whitehawk announced during the summer that they will, after all, be staying at The Enclosed Ground (yes, it has a fence!) in East Brighton Park.

Travelling by car
According to the AA, the 31 mile journey from Bognor to Eastbourne should take you around an hour. The route starts out on the A259 coast road, then joins the A27 which takes you all the way into Brighton. So…
1. Head for Littlehampton and Wick on the A259.
2. At the Wick roundabout, take the second exit onto the A284 (signposted London, Brighton, Portsmouth.
3. Two miles later, at the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A27 and head towards Brighton.
4. Stay on the A27 for approx 13 miles and then, at roundabout, take the first exit onto the A270, signposted Southwick, Brighton.
5. Two miles later, at traffic signals, turn right onto Trafalgar Road (B2193). Continue over the mini-roundabout and at next roundabout, take the second exit onto Church Road (still the B2193).
6. At traffic signals, turn left onto the A259 (sea front) and head into Brighton. (After approx 3½ miles, you should pass Palace Pier on your right.)
7. At the roundabout next to the pier, take the second exit (still the A259) signposted Rottingdean and Newhaven.
8. After 1¼ miles, turn left onto Arundel Road (B2137)
9. Approx 300 yards later, at mini-roundabout, turn right into Bristol Gardens, then left onto Wilson Avenue. The entrance to the ground is a little further down on your left.
Travelling by Public Transport
The train journey from Bognor to Brighton is pretty straightforward but Brighton station is three miles from the ground. Take a cab or the number 21 bus (details below).
Outward train journey
Dep Bognor 12.07, arr Barnham 12.13
Dep Barnham 12.33, arr Brighton 13.18
The number 21 bus runs from the station, through East Brighton and along Wilson Avenue. Alight at the Wadhurst Rise stop, enter the park and follow the signs / traffic. Buses leave the station at 24 and 54 minutes past the hour and take about half an hour to reach Wilson Avenue.
Return train journey
After the match, take the 21 bus back to Brighton station and return to Bognor as follows
