Travelling by car

The AA’s recommended route from Bognor to Ramsgate is 127 miles long and takes around 2 hours, 38 minutes to drive. The route takes you up to the M25 and out on the M20, as follows:

1. Take your preferred route to the A23 / M23 and head towards London.

2. Leave the M23 at Junction 8 and join the M25.

3. Travel anti-clockwise (signposted Dartford Crossing) as far as Junction 5 (M26, Dover)

4. Stay on the M26 until it merges with the M20.

5. Leave the M20 at junction 7. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A249, signposted Sittingbourne, Sheerness.

6. Approx six miles later, at another roundabout, take the first exit onto the M2 (signposted Dover).

7. Approx 12½ miles later, at junction 7, continue forward onto the A299 (signposted Margate, Ramsgate).

8. Continue on the A299 for 22 miles, following signs for Ramsgate.

9. At roundabout, take 2nd exit onto A256 then, almost immediately, at Lord of the Manor roundabout, take the first exit to rejoin the A299 (signposted Ramsgate, Ferry Terminal).

10. Half a mile later, at another roundabout, take the second exit onto the A255 (signposted Ramsgate Town Centre, St Lawrence)

11. Approx half a mile later, turn right onto Southwood Gardens, and continue forward onto Weigall Place.

12. Turn right onto Southwood Road and right again into Price’s Avenue.

Travelling by Public Transport

There are two main ways of getting from Bognor to Ramsgate by train but they both involve long journeys – almost four hours each way – and at least three changes (in one case, involving the London underground). Here are some examples:

Assuming you haven’t lost the will to live on your four-hour train journey, you now face (according to the Ramsgate FC website) a 10-15 minute walk, as follows

1. When you come out of the station turn right, and walk along Wilfred Road (past the sorting office) and straight on at the traffic lights at the junction with St Lawrence Park Road into Grange Road.

2. Follow Grange Road until you get to shopping centre and at Zebra crossing turn right into Southwood Road.

3. Go up Southwood road, following road round to right at the top, then turn 1st left into Prices Avenue.
