Travelling by car

The AA’s recommended route from Bognor to Faversham is 102 miles long and takes around 2 hours, 6 minutes to drive. The route takes you up to the M25 and out on the M20, as follows:

1. Join the A24 at Findon;

2. At Buck Barn crossroads, Take the A272 towards Cowfold and Haywards Heath,

3. Join the A23 (later M23) and head towards London.

4. Leave the M23 at Junction 8 and join the M25.

5. Travel anti-clockwise (signposted Dartford Crossing) as far as Junction 5 (M26, Dover)

6. Stay on the M26 until it merges with the M20.

7. Leave the M20 at junction 7. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A249, signposted Sittingbourne, Sheerness.

8. Approx six miles later, at another roundabout, take the first exit onto the M2 (signposted Dover).

9. Eleven miles later, leave the M2 at junction 6 and turn left onto the A251, signposted Faversham.

10. Half a mile later, at a T-Junction, turn right onto the A2 (signposted Canterbury). Salters Lane is about 200 yards on your right.

Travelling by Public Transport

Another rail marathon, like most of our games in Kent. This one takes around 3½ hours each way. The only good news is that you can travel via Victoria if you’d rather avoid the tube journey to St Pancras and it’s (ludicrously expensive) ‘high-speed’ service.

Dep Barnham 10.19 Arr Victoria 11.44

Dep Victoria 12.22 Arr Faversham 13.39

NB These times are taken from the National Rail Enquiries website who tend to assume that we are all slow and lethargic. In fact, if your train gets to Victoria on time and you then ‘get a move on’ you should manage to catch 11.52 service to Faversham, arriving 13.09.

Faversham Station is exactly half a mile from Salters Lane. Walk out of the staion and onto the Mall. Walk to the end of The Mall and turn left onto Canterbury Road. Salters Lane is approx 500 yards on your right.

Return journey

Dep Victoria 19.02 Arr Bognor 20.46
