Sussex Senior Cup 6.50pm Monday 25th January 2010
The Rocks are one of just two sides so far to have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup. Also through to the last eight are Eastbourne United Association, who beat East Preston 2-1 back in November - and the U's could be joined in the next round by near neighbours Eastbourne Borough and Eastbourne Town.
The Rocks win over Worthing last Tuesday night left six Third Round ties still to play, beginning this Saturday, January 23rd, when Shoreham host East Grinstead Town in an all-County League tie. This is followed, a few days later, by a clash between two of this season's favourites, with Brighton and Hove Albion making the short trip up the A23 to face Crawley on January 27th. Next up, Pagham face Peacehaven and Telscombe at Nyetimber Lane on Saturday 13th February. That leaves three other ties still to be arranged. The full list is:
Jan 23 Shoreham v East Grinstead Town
Jan 27 Crawley v Brighton and Hove Albion
Feb 13 Pagham v Peacehaven & Telscombe
TBA Eastbourne Borough v Sidley United
TBA Whitehawk v Eastbourne Town
TBA Lewes v Hastings United
With the third round draw pairing several of the so-called bigger sides in this years competition, there are bound to be at least three county League sides in the draw for the quarter-final but it might be some time yet before the Rocks know the identity of their next opponents.
