Review (Pre Season)

Rocks got off to winning ways in their second game inside the pre-season friendly match list. They took on Pagham and won 2-0 away after losing the first game against Crawley Town with a 3-1 defeat. The new Npower League 2 outfit looked physically strong and are expected to be fighting for promotion yet again this season.

Bognor bounced back against Eastbourne Borough at Nyewood Lane with a 2-1 win thanks to some good play all-round and a great second goal from new signing Terry Dodd, who joined us from Worthing this year.

The men in green and white then went to Selsey, managing only a 1-1 draw due largely to player absence and an impressive home display. This match was brought in to replace the game scheduled between Rocks at Moneyfields, which was cancelled.

Rocks then made their way to one of their main promotion rivals from last season, Leatherhead, on the evening of Tuesday 9th August. The game ended with the win, 2-0 to be precise. Luke Nightingale and Jason Prior nabbed the goals, bringing back memories of their successful goal-scoring prowess from last season. However, the win came at the price of many injuries and Duncan Jupp was shown the red card, meaning a 3-match suspension. Stuart Axten, Michael Birmingham and Terry Dodd all looked worse for wear after some strong tackles from the Tanners. But positives included an impressive display from the Littlehampton Town recruit, Darryl Wollers who was involved in both goals and Craig Stoner for securing the clean sheet.

Rocks managed another impressive draw at Imber Court against Met Police with a 2-2 final score.

Goals from Jason Prior and James Fraser were enough for the result. Prior also rattled the bar in what was a competitive match. Fraser impressed after coming back from shoulder problems.

The draw for the 2nd Round of the Sussex Senior Cup sees the Rocks take on Rye United away on Wednesday 30th November. The game will kick off at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

Bognor have been drawn away to Walton Casuals in the second round of the Isthmian League Cup. The match will be played on Tuesday 18th October with a 7.45pm kick off.

Don’t forget Rocks take on Chipstead at Nyewood Lane for the first game of the 2011/2012 Ryman Division One South season.

This will take place on Saturday 20th August and will kick off at 3pm - so don’t miss it as its going to be the start of another fantastic season!
