ROCKS WITHOUT A GAME 1.50 25th January LATEST NEWS…… MAIDSTONE MATCH POSTPONED ROCKS WITHOUT A GAME THIS SATURDAY, 30TH JANUARY The Rocks are without a game on Saturday because their intended opponents, Maidstone United, will now be playing in the FA Trophy instead. Maidstone thought they were out of the competition after losing 3-0 to Blue Square Conference side Histon in the first round last Tuesday. However, Histon were subsequently charged by the FA with fielding an ineligible player after on-loan West Ham teenager Jack Werndley played for 70 minutes of the match. Werndley did not sign for the ‘Stutes until after the original date for the tie (12th December) which was postponed no fewer than six times due to the weather. An FA hearing at Wembley Stadium this morning rejected Histon’s appeal and confirmed their both their expulsion from the competition and Maidstone’s reinstatement. The Stones will now travel to Salisbury City for a second round tie this coming Saturday, which means that their scheduled Ryman League, Premier Division fixture against the Rocks at Nyewood Lane will now have to be rearranged…. watch this space for further news.
